Great Books: Wild At Heart and Captivating

John Eldredge has written many books such as , Fathered By God, The Sacred Romance , Waking the Dead and most recently Beautiful Outlaw: Experiencing the Playful, Disruptive ,Extravagant Personality of Jesus. If you have never read anything by John and Stasi Eldredge I would highly  recommend you get one of his amazing books as soon as possible. Today I wanna highlight two of his books,

Wild at Heart written for men

“Every man was once a boy.  And every little has dreams, big dreams,  dreams of being the hero, of beating the bad guys, of doing daring feats and rescuing the damsel in distress. Every little girl has dreams, too: of being rescued by her prince and swept up into a great adventure, knowing that she is the beauty.

But what happens to those dreams when we grow up? Walk into most churches, have a look around, and ask yourself: What is a Christian man?  Without listening to what is said, look at what you find there. Most Christian men are . . . bored. John Eldredge invites men to recover their masculine heart, defined in the image of a passionate God.”

Captivating written for women.

“The message of Captivating is this: Your heart matters more than anything else in all creation. The desires you had as a little girl and the longings you still feel as a woman are telling you of the life God created you to live. He offers to come now as the Hero of your story, to rescue your heart and release you to live as a fully alive and feminine woman. A woman who is truly captivating.”

I can tell you Captivating has helped me so much , each book really seeks to get you to the heart of who God created you to be and the adventure He has planned for you. We are His sons and daughters and he made us intentionally !

You can pick up any of John and Stasi Eldredges books including Wild at Heart and Captivating here.

Another resource I wanted to share with you today is John’s pod cast Ransomed Heart. In Sept and Oct. he talked about Gender and then Homosexuality and I really enjoyed hearing what he had to say. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
